Yes, I am familiar with Fairholme. My family lived on Country Club Drive. It was always amusing to me to see people react on hearing this posh-sounding address. They assumed all kinds of things about me, not knowing that it was a street of modest colonials and bungalows, well removed from the Lockmoor Country Club on the other side of Mack Avenue. I have for the last twenty-five years lived on the west side, at Ten Mile and Woodward, in the smallest incorporated city in Michigan–Pleasant Ridge. During the winter months, my wife Barbara and I (we co-produce Drinks Before Dinner) live in Naples, Florida–but again, this fancy town leads people to inaccurate assumptions about our social status.

Hi Barry,

Small world. I live in Grosse Poine Woods...on Fairholme Road. Familiar with it? LTU and ESD have a great relationship. I was at LTU last week for an event. I will visit your other blog soon. Thanks for the kind words about my rose photos. Flowers are my favorite thing to photograph :)

All very interesting. My professional life was spent at Lawrence Technological University, an institution with strong ties to the Engineering Society of Detroit. I was born in the city, but my family moved to Grosse Pointe Woods when I was four. Actually, the blog to which I now devote most of my writing time is http://drinksbeforedinner.com It’s a collaboration with my wife: she gives me the best lines, I do the writing. The latest close-ups of a single rose are spectacular. Barry

Bill,

You're such a stately gentleman sitting there so proud and well-mannered. Thank you for stopping by Monarch Musings and for the kind comment. It's sad that Detroit has had so many trials and tribulations lately. While I grew up on the East Coast, Grosse Pointe has been my home for the last 25 years. I work for The Engineering Society of Detroit...and we are making every effort possible to help bring investment back to MI and help get the talented workers in transition back to work. My photoblog is my hobby...my camera rarely leaves my side.

You and Barry sure have an interesting story going on here. Hope you get lots of walks and treats.

Almost forgot.
The extra "lives" is so that you can write a cautionary tale for the rest of us.

PS Thank you for the invitation to read your blog. Have been busy trying to adjust to not writing on my old blog. It's been harder than I thought but like all transitions there's good in it too.

Hugs. Ann

LOL @ pruming trees with chainsaws.
This time last year I watched as folks cleared land to put in a fence. I'd asked them to teach me how to use one as I have needed to clear some land and this looked much easier than a manual saw. "Naw, you don't need to do that. It's too dangerous.", said the lead guy. As I watched them scramble though the trees and remembered a statistic concerning injuries to pulp wooders, I thought about what he'd told me. Something about that and "...I caught my husband IN the crape myrtle tree trimming branches..." and reading about the tingling up the legs that wasn't related to rattlesnake or spider bites had me just laughing. I'm glad that you're okay.

Tell your friend Bill that "writer cats" have atleast 9 lives and from my experience out here in the wilderness? You do get extra for being new at it all.
